Greetings. My name is Dave Chicoine. I grew up as a missionary’s kid in French speaking Quebec, Canada. Twenty-six years ago, I met and married a gal named Cari from Braxton County WV who also grew up as a preacher’s kid. Since then, God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters, Erin and Leah. As born-again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, God placed us almost immediately into the full-time ministry, from being missionaries to the Apache Indians in New Mexico, to pastoring two churches, one in East Millinocket, Maine and the other in Chandler, Arizona. I have been here at Cottageville Evans Baptist Church since July, 2019.

Concerning our role in this community, my heart’s desire above all else is to glorify God, and that, by exalting and magnifying His one and only son Jesus Christ. This occurs not only in word through preaching for example, but equally and perhaps even more so, in deeds of Christlike love that others can see and feel. To tell people you love them is good, but to show people you love them is better. God is a God of love and action, and we wish to demonstrate the same, practically and spiritually.

As a pastor, I believe the church is a people group, and not a building or an event that one attends on Sunday. The church building is not the “house of God”, but rather those believers who are indwelt by His ever-abiding Spirit are. What occurs on Sunday is no different than what should be occurring daily for the individual believer, except that it is being done collectively, and that is worshipping God in Spirit and in truth. Not of duty, but of genuine desire. Lord willing, our services will be void of the traditions, doctrines, and commandments of men that lead to the beggarly elements of modern day “churchianity” and “religiousity”. These things only bury church folk in a pit of man-made rules and regulations that serve only to rob one’s joy and restrict the liberty we have in the Spirit to worship the Lord freely and with a heart of gladness. The times we meet as the church family are to be times of encouragement and edification, where Christ is the source, substance, and sum of all preaching and teaching. A time in which we fall more in love with Him and one another and are challenged to become like Him in our everyday manner of living. If you do not already have a time when you fellowship collectively with other believers, please feel free to join us. We believe all believers are part of God’s awesome family, and we would love to meet you.

May the Lord use us all according to His will, for the glory of God and the good of one another.
